The island Kimolos has only 720 inhabitants living in three villages: Mesa Kastro, Exo Kastro, (sometimes these two are referred to as Chora or simply as Kimolos) and Psathi, the little harbor. The people are dominated by the ruthless Venturis family who have become very successful owners of ferry boats.

Kimolos  was called “Argentiera” by the Venetians, and takes its name from the Greek word Kimolia, which means chalk. Both names recall the white rocks of the Island. And in effect,  a white/silver quality of perlite is still being extracted today, along with cimolite, chalk.

We anchored in Psathi Bay at Kimolos.  This is a place with nothing much and in the middle of no where. We traveled to the small town for provisions (wine, breads, etc.)  and the captured some of the experiences from Greek Country Living. The place where we are anchored (as I type) is amazing with waters so clear that you can see the bottom under 30 feets. The coast line is all stones and add to the beauty. Some of the shots I have taken will show the sailing experience, colors, landscape, water, sunset, sun rise and life around us.

Santorini is a spectacular volcanic island, one of the most beautiful and romantic places in the world, with amazing landscape, unusual beaches and a vibrant night life. We anchored at Armeni Cove, straight down from the great village of Oia. The climb was steep but each of the crew at least went up and down 4 times in our 3 day stay there. We also visited the town of Fira and a beach called Perissa.

The place is majestic, spiritual and made all of us humble. Words can’t describe the experience, neither will the pictures, but here’s some of the pictures as our memorabilia for rest of the life.

With the experience and guidance of our captain we were happy arriving to the island only to hit a storm. After battling the Paros sea we gladly anchored and weathered the storm.  The night was full of laughs and great food served up by Bo “3 fingers” Sorrentino.  Due to the storm we were also able to take some of the best and most beautiful pictures that really captured the essence of the scenery.

After that excitement we all earned a good nights sleep. In the morning we were up and at em with showers breakfast and  preparing for the adventure yet to begin with provisions, and reloading the ship.  Although we didn’t have much if any wind we were still ready to get the day off to a strong start. We had about 30 miles to get to the next island and the ocean was very calm making for a Sifnos ride yet a smooth ride.

All in all so much to be thankful for; life is good.

Met Prady & Chris, Mario. Got in Prady’s rental, grabbed lunch. Boat was made available at 1:30pm. We took a great lunch at Focacino Cafe in Paleo Faliro, not far from the Alimos Marina.

Did our provisions for next few days — four shopping carts, 400 Euros.
We discovered a great place for dinner — beautiful ambiance, great service (the owners son came to our boat to tell us about the food), and amazingly affordable price. We eat many rounds of octopus, lamb chops, grape leaves, musaka and few more traditional Greek stuff. This was with few rounds of Ozzo, with final round of Honey Liqueur and fresh water melon all of this within 120 Euros.

We slept at the Boat friday night.

Special mention — Thanks to Sprint for Screwing my phone and hope Susan will figure out how to get Sprint.

Next morning — woke up 4:30am. Peter, pray and I went to look for Coffeee.
A bit cranky about without Breakfast. And dictating pray about this Blog. Planning tp cook tonight — Using D’Amico Retaurant of Penney, Cream sauce, with Rosted Chicken, Fresh Rosemary, Secret recipe with Gorgonzolla Chease.

Bo Sorrentino

Check out the pictures, and multiply the real kick you will get my at least 10 time. Closest place to heaven on Earth.

What better way to see the beauty of the islands than from a 42 sailboat with a crew of diverse natures and backgrounds. If this does not turn out to be the first in a series of sailing trips for this crew, I will be very surprised.

Hopefully the crew will all post a brief profile of themselves to set the scene, but prior to that I am going to run through the crew list with their crew names:

Lets start with communications officer and signalman Prady. The technofreak of the crew, he will be the guy who’s documentary of the trip will run on National Geographic for years, and make us all rich from the royalties.

Then there is Steph. He is armorer and gun master. If there is so much as a whisper of pirate activity on our route, our vessel will become as fearsome as Blackbeards frigate. I personally will be below decks chowing down on Bo’s cooking, but the rest of you will be staunch defenders of our flag under Steph’s direction.

Bo (threefingers) Sorrentino, of the Scicilian Sorrentinos, will be chief cook. Let me tell you, nobody, and I mean NOBODY, can heat up a McDonalds Big Mac like this man. Two weeks of culinary heaven for my intrepid voyagers. Don’t forget the Ketchup Bo.

Mario will be taking two weeks off from singing in the church choir to keep the crew entertained, and to welcome any visitors on board. (paying visitors only Mario) He is the Ever Ready power source for the more senior crew member, he will keep me on my toes until I can party no more.

Finally, there is Chris. A man of many talents, we just don’t know what they are!! Chris has been designated as our boatswain. The reason being nobody knows what a boatswain is, so he has free rein.

A motley crew to be sure, but one that will write history!!
